Who We Are
Founded in 1999, Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is a statewide nonprofit with a central office in Columbia, Md., and staff located in communities throughout the state.  Using personal experience as parents, caregivers, youth, and other loved ones, we connect, support, and empower Maryland’s families. Our staff provides one-to-one support to parents and caregivers of young people with mental health issues, parents and caregivers of young people involved with the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS), and to any loved one who cares for someone with substance use or gambling issue. We also advocate to improve systems that impact individuals with behavioral health challenges.  

Overview
The Program Manager is directly responsible for the training, supervision, and professional development of Family Peer Support Services Team Supervisors who each directly oversee the provision of services by Family Peer Support Specialists and ensures program development opportunities are pursued and contributes to the development, cultivation, and stewardship of partner relationships that advance the organization’s goals. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides training, supervision, and professional development to Family Peer Support Services Team Supervisors through regular and consistent individual supervision and provides Team Supervisors guidance and support with hiring, onboarding, orientation, personnel management, and performance appraisal of Family Peer Support Specialist team members.
  • Attends family and community activities when possible and appropriate to provide support and observe/evaluate the delivery of family peer support services.
  • Stays abreast of trends, new initiatives, and best practices to ensure the provision of high-quality family peer support services.
  • Ensures contract deliverables are met by promoting an organizational culture that empowers staff members to achieve outcomes utilizing metrics and data.
  • Leads the hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new Team Supervisors.
  • Responsible for performance appraisals and personnel management, including identifying coaching opportunities and performance improvement for Team Supervisors.
  • Represents or ensures representation of MCF at committees and commissions of key stakeholders.
  • Acts as subject matter expert in designated focus area to support the delivery of high-quality services on topics related to that specific focus area (i.e., substance use, problem gambling, mental health, early childhood, DJS, child welfare, etc.)
  • Assists in identifying and disseminating resources for families and youth.
  • In conjunction with other MCF staff, builds and maintains relationships with local partners and stakeholders.
  • Supports MCF staff with program development.
  • Assists with the communication of real-life experience of families served to others in MCF to support program and policy development.

Qualifications

  • Personal experience (not work-related experience) as a primary caregiver of a loved one with mental health challenges is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in a human services field, or; minimum of five years of experience working with families caring for children with behavioral health challenges.
  • Prior supervisory experience in the human services field is required.
  • Live in Baltimore City or Western Maryland (Frederick/Carroll/Baltimore counties)
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to work with diverse staff in a strengths-based way.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve established outcomes.
  • Proficient computer skills and comfortable with utilizing technology in daily work.
  • Mission-driven and flexible; able to anticipate issues and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to travel throughout the state and within the region regularly.  Current Maryland driver’s license and insurance, and access to own vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required for all MCF employees.

Hours/Compensation

  • 40 hours a week
