Who We Are

Founded in 1999, Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is a statewide nonprofit with a central office in Columbia, Md., and staff located in communities throughout the state.  Using personal experience as parents, caregivers, youth and other loved ones, we connect, support and empower Maryland’s families. Our staff provide one-to-one support to parents and caregivers of young people with mental health issues and to any loved one who cares for someone with a substance use or gambling issue. We also advocate to improve systems that impact individuals with behavioral health challenges. 

Overview

Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is seeking an energetic and organized Family Leadership Institute (FLI) Alumni to serve as the Family Leadership Event Assistant. This part-time position will have set hours that correspond to the needs and timing of the programs. The Assistant provides comprehensive support for all logistics of the on-site, weekend programs and helps to prepare for and close out each weekend. The Family Leadership Event Assistant reports to the Family Engagement and Training Specialist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the on-site logistics of Family Leadership training events, including coordinating food, accommodations, attendance records, and room set-up.
  • Assists with developing and organizing workshop materials including surveys, handouts, and presentations.
  • Distributes and collects workshop evaluations for each Family Leadership event.
  • Actively engages with and supports Family Leadership participants during training sessions (responds to participant needs and requests, and works to enhance attendees’ experience).
  • Communicates with hotels and other external vendors to coordinate on-site set-up, execution, and take-down for various events.
  • Supports the speakers and workshop trainers for each Family Leadership event, including setting up and testing audio/visual equipment. 
  • Performs other related administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of MCF’s Family Leadership Institute.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A high level of professionalism and passion for MCF’s mission.
  • Strong problem-solving and administrative skills, including the ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills; record-keeping and time-management experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Current Maryland driver’s license and access to own vehicle.
 

Compensation/Hours

  • Salary range $15-18 per hour, based on experience.
  • Part-time; hours determined in advance to correspond to the needs of the program (see above).
